In the 1860’s the chemist Jacques Blockx was approached by his artist friends, who pressed him to develop water colours that captured the spirit of those used by the old masters. In 1865 he presented his work, a water colour that was as clear as a summer day, rich in pigmentation, a delight to use, beautifully dissolvable and having great luminosity. The water colour proved popular and has been the choice of generations of inspirational artists ever since. The 48 colours of the Blockx water colour range are especially known for their transparency, stability over time and powerful colours, these are all thanks to secret production processes using the finest of ingredients including honey and glycerine and the finest, meticulously ground pigments.
