DAPHNE HANDMADE STRIPE PATTERN PAPER
The Daphne plant grows especially in the Himalayas and is the basic material for the manufacture of paper for hundreds of years. Until recently, this paper was used almost exclusively by monks for the documentation of their scripts and jurists used this paper for drafting contracts - they preferred very thin mould paper to prevent forgery. The paper is very age-resistant.
The paper is manufactured at an altitude of 1500 - 2500 feet and spring water from the mountains is used for moulding, finally the paper dries in the sun. For this reason the paper is very clean. The required energy is generated by water. The raw material is obtained by peeling away the bark of the Daphne plant. This bark grows again continuously. Daphne paper is moulded and manufactured by using traditional techniques of paper moulding.
An interesting, extremely durable paper for book-binding (tear-proof), decorative design and collages. Smooth surface 40g/m2, sheet format 50cm x 75cm with a deckle edge on all 4 sides. Price per sheet.
