KERSOLITH HOLLOW CASTING PASTE
Kersolith is used for making “hollow figures”. It is a ceramic casting compound, additionally mixed with silan chips (reinforcement fibres made of fibre glass) and a shape with a thickness of 1.5-3mm has the same stability as a shape made of clay and 5 mm thick. Mixing Ratio: 3-4 parts Kersolith and 1 part water. For the creation of “hollow shapes” Kersolith is mixed with water in a 4:1 ratio to a viscous casting pulp, poured into the prepared mould and swivelled out. The remaining, unused material, is filled back in the mixing cup and can be used for swivelling out other moulds. After the curing of the Kersolith basic layer, a new compound is mixed, this time in a 3-3.5 : 1 ratio and poured into the mould. By doing so, the thin basic layer is covered with a more thick-walled layer. Any remaining material can be used for other moulds. After 20 minutes, the second layer has already become so solid that the next layer can be casted. The swivelling out with fresh compound needs to be repeated 4 to 5 times. The shapes will be very light. They can be worked further mechanically, e.g. by drilling, milling, filing, sawing and polishing. The shapes are hydrophob (water proof), i.e. they do not absorb any humidity. They can be painted and decorated with paint, varnish and glaze. Available in a 1000g tub. Price per tub.
