PLASTER BANDAGES
Originally developed for use in medicine, these now have a strong following in fine arts. All levels of artists see plaster bandages as an ideal material for modelling. It can be used in sculptures, collages and reliefs, even in conjunction with other materials. Naturally it can be used for making masks in large numbers and this is very popular in schools. These masks can be used in masquerades and carnivals.
Plaster bandages are ideal for modelling, making facemasks and for making other shapes in plaster of Paris. This cost effective modelling fabric allows precise impressions to be made. Please note that Vaseline should be rubbed into the face and the eyes, and that the mouth and hair should be protected with damp paper towels before applying the dampened plaster bandages (strips no larger than approx. 4cm x 6cm). The nostrils must be kept clear. Immerse the plaster bandages for 2 - 3 seconds in water, slightly wring it out and apply. After several minutes of bonding, the shape can be taken away and worked further or used. Approx. 3 bandages are necessary for a mask. Supplied in a soft plastic pack, 8cm wide and 4m long. Price per bandage or pack.
