The oil stick from Sennelier is a composition of artist quality oil paint; a proportion of the oil is substituted with a neutral mineral was, resulting in the stick appearance. The 55 artist colours are of top quality: pure pigments are ground into vegetable oils (scabies), selected for their low degree of yellowing with time. The choice and high concentration of pigments enables excellent light resistance to be achieved.
Colours are applied directly to conventional oil painting supports . Solid oil paint should be applied in a relatively thin film - no more than 1mm. Layers can be overlapped and can be thinned withn turpentine, white spirits or low odour thinners. Before use the surface film should be removed. This film will re-form after a few days without use. Paint applied dries within 2 to 5 days depending on thickness and atmospheric conditions.
The paint may be varnished with a conventional final varnish for oil paintings after a minimum of 6 months - maybe longer if the paint film is thick. The oil stick shelf life is long and storage should be at normal room temperature.
The oil sticks are available in two sizes, the medium stick is 130mm long with a diameter of 20mm = 38ml, the large stick is 150mm long with a diameter of 30mm =96ml. Price per oil stick.
