SET OF 3 GERSTAECKER XL STRETCHED COTTON CANVAS

The Gerstaecker Studio XL canvases differ from our standard stretched canvases in that they are 4.5cm thick.

The staples for the canvas are to be found on the underside of the frame, not on the side as is the usual case. This means that the artist has the possibility to include the edges of the canvas in their artwork and it also means that the canvases can be hung without frames for a contemporary look.

The profile is carefully machined and finished. Each stretcher is made from a single piece of wood (not laminated) and all of the softwood timber comes from managed forests. In comparison to similar thickness frames that are constructed with two wedges, the XL frames are extremely stable and resistant to warping; this is greatly enhanced by strictly controlled moisture content and storage.

The frames are stretched with the same cotton canvas as our standard studio stretched canvases and are prepared in the same universal primer. Gerstaecker Studio XL canvases are best suited to oil, acrylic, gouache and tempera work.
