WATER GLASS

Water glass is used, among other things, as the adhesive component of paint and adhesives. It can also be used on porous ceramics or ceramics with cracked glazes to make them impermeable to water. Gently preheating the piece to about 50ºC will mean a quicker drying time. The layer present after drying sits in the pores or cracks and seals the object. This protective layer is not heatproof (hot water) and must be reapplied after a certain amount of time.
Water glass can also be used when deflocculating casting materials as it decreases the water content. Available in 500ml bottle.
