WHITING
This serves as the base for making a chalk primed surface, such as that used in icon painting. To prepare the ground from chalk, this must be mixed with hot lime (Rabbit Skin Size, code 29075). A ground made from insufficiently heated lime is less permanent and is susceptible to cracking; overheated lime loses its stickiness. The chalk undercoat is generally made from 1 part lime to 10 – 20 parts chalk, adding plenty of water until a creamy consistency is reached. Chalk primed surfaces should be applied in several layers. Available in 1kg packs.
