Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours are suitable for all conventional painting techniques. They offer high colour brilliance and high pigment strength and therefore very good coverage.

There is no water within the Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colour formulation: the linseed and safflower oils have been modified to allow the colour to accept water. This creates a stable emulsion, and the paint retains the working characteristics of conventional oil colour. Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours have a soft, buttery consistency and all colours have high light resistance.

Many of the colours in this range are made from single pigments and all colours have been awarded the title AP Non-Toxic by the American Art and Creative Materials Institute (AMC). The cadmium, cobalt and chrome oxide green are true colours. Each pigment needs different levels of oil in the formulation, so the sheen may differ slightly from colour to colour. The addition of water as a solvent, as well as the use of mediums, will also alter the sheen.

Drying time for the Winsor & Newton Artisan Water Mixable Oil Colours is 2-12 days. Unlike traditional oils, this range can be thinned with water and all painting equipment can be cleaned with soap and water so no problematic solvents are required, which is very important for allergy sufferers and for those seeking a safer working environment.

Great product but not british?? - W&N Artisan is a great product range, it does what it says.

However it may be a british name but its actually all made in France?
