MAIMERI | RECTIFIED TURPENTINE ESSENCE — for oil paint

MAIMERI RECTIFIED TURPENTINE ESSENCE is a classic balsam turpentine: an essential oil extracted from the buds of coniferous trees. Rectified and highly pure: the resin has been purified out.

This thinner should be used mainly in the lower layers of your painting, bearing in mind the fat-over-lean rule. Because your paint can run if you use too much, it is best to use this balsam turpentine sparingly. Only when applying a first — very thin — imprimatura can you use it more generously.

TIP! This balsam turpentine has a high dissolving power. That is why you can also use it as a solvent for (natural) resins and for cleaning your brushes and palette, as well as for removing paint that is already dry.
