CRETACOLOR® Art Chunky Coloured Charcoal sticks are round drawing materials designed for large-scale work. Measuring approximately 18 mm Ø and 80 mm long, these oil-free sticks are highly valued for their soft texture and exceptional water-solubility.
Their large diameter makes them ideal for quickly filling in large areas with broad strokes, though they are less suitable for fine details. They can be used directly on paper and then manipulated with a wet brush to create watercolour-like glazes and washes. You can even scrape off dust from the stick to mix with water or gum arabic for an opaque, gouache-like paint.
The soft, grease-free material smudges easily, allowing for smooth gradients and transitions between tones. These CRETACOLOR® Art Chunky Coloured Charcoal sticks work on various surfaces, including standard drawing paper, pastel paper, watercolour paper, and gesso-primed surfaces.
