This ABIG Lino Cutting set is an excellent starter set for linocut work because it enables you, by virtue of the differently shaped blades and gouges, to make all the important cuts necessary for linocut prints.

These sets are ideal for schools. They are also suitable for lightweight woodcut prints as well.

The cutters are made from nickel-plated, high-grade stainless steel, and have conical shafts that fit solidly into the wooden handle. To change the cutter simply fit the ejector into the borehole at the bottom of the handle and push the blade free. The cutters in this ABIG Lino Cutting set have been individually hardened and hand polished. A spare handle is available if required, see item code 34251, and replacement cutters are also available. The tools are presented in an impact-resistant plastic box.

This ABIG Lino Cutting set contains:

  • a pear-shaped wooden handle
  • ejector tool
  • five different cutters: a veining tool (small V shaped head, great for cutting fine lines) ○ a U-shaped embellishing tool (small U shaped head for thicker lines) ○ 3 mm and 4 mm gouges (to lift out small or larger areas) ○ a contour cutter ( for pre-cutting sharp edged lines and for post-processing).

Price per set.

Review this product
Before anyone gets misled by the no-stars review by Stanley, please note he has not understood how to put the blades into the handle! They are not SUPPOSED to 'fit around' the wood pole. They fit snugly in the opening -- with the pole pushed downward and out of the way -- as they are. What the pole is FOR is to eject them, simply by pushing it upward. The fit is correct as is, something I hope that Stanley has realized in the interim since he wrote that review.

doesn't work - the blades don't fit around the wood pole! useless!

Abig Lino Cutting Set - very good blades kept sharp for a long time - plastic box useful - didn't loose the cutters once!!

Good for Beginners - Super cheap, and it's a case of you get what you pay for - these lasted about three projects.

Having said that, if you're unsure about what you need or even if you're going to like linocut, then these are the ones to get!
