Borciani e Bonazzi | UNICO MANGUSTA 800 Round brushes — synthetic hair
The synthetic hair of the Borciani e Bonazzi UNICO MANGUSTA 800 Round brushes is a vegan-friendly alternative to natural mongoose hair. In terms of its characteristic properties, it is somewhat reminiscent of marten hair.
It is extremely hygroscopic - this means that it can absorb a lot of (very) diluted paint — such as watercolour paint, thin soft body acrylic paint and diluted oil paint, for example for glaze layers — and ink. The flow control is optimal, with a controlled, slow release. The synthetic hair combines softness and a supple, almost gliding touch with resilience — it has enough snap to return immediately to its original shape.
➽ High absorbency with controlled release — perfect for smooth, long strokes and even coverage.
➽ Good resilience — the snap of the hairs ensures razor-sharp definition, even when painting complex details.
➽ No streaking — ideal for soft colour transitions and refined glazing techniques.
This specific synthetic hair is wide at the base and tapers to a thin, fine point. This gives you extremely precise definition and line work, without visible brush strokes. Apply a little more pressure to create backgrounds, light washes and glaze layers. These brushes are perfect for realistic and illustrative work, glaze layers and calligraphic techniques, including in ink. Please note: the brushes are not suitable for heavy body paint and impasto techniques.

Borciani e Bonazzi — tradition and innovation since 1951!
The founders of the Italian family business Borciani e Bonazzi — B♦B for short — are brother Arturo and sister Wilma Bonazzi. They started their business in 1951 in a small artisan workshop in the Emilia region of Italy. The name came about when Wilma's husband, the young Borciani, joined the company.
Today, their brushes are still made one by one by hand, combining traditional techniques — learned from local craftsmen — with top-quality materials, such as innovative, high-end synthetic fibres.
