Gamblin Studio Palette Knives are a new range of palette knives which are genuinely more functional. They were designed by painters for painters, so that you enjoy working with them.

You may be wondering where the strange names come from? The Robert is named after the founder of Gamblin and the other five are named after the streets where Gamblin has been housed for the past 40+ years since its inception.

Product specifications of the blades of the Gamblin Studio Palette Knives:

  • FlexSteel carbon steel
  • made in one piece, with even tension and flexibility
  • 1.5mm thick, gradually tapering towards the edges
  • satin matt, non-reflective finish
  • magnetic, so you can hang them on a (magnetic) strip

Product specifications of the handles of the Gamblin Studio Palette Knives:

  • lightweight FSC certified birch wood
  • ergonomic design that fits well in the palm of your hand and gives maximum control
  • suitable for left and right-handed use
  • flattened end, so you can also put these palette knives upright
  • flat back, so these palette knives don't roll away when you put them down
  • colour-dipped in white lacquer, with a colour dip at the end
  • the paints used are REACH certified and comply with the CPSIA regulations
  • glossy and solvent resistant finish

There are 6 Gamblin Studio Palette Knives to choose from:

  • 65120 = The Robert - this narrow palette knife has the longest and most flexible and resilient blade of all Gamblin's palette knives. It's Robert Gamblin's favorite — hence the name. It's ideal for filling tubes with paint.
  • dim. blade: approx. 7.94 cm x 1.59 cm; total length (including handle): approx. 24.45 cm; color dip: Cadmium red light, Pantone warm red
  • 65119 = The Hoyt - the asymmetrical and 45° bevelled blade gives you more options for mark-making than a typical symmetrical blade. It is surprisingly useful and versatile and is perfect for mixing colours.
  • dim. blade: approx. 6.99 cm x 2.22 cm; total length (including handle): approx. 23.50 cm; color dip: Transparent earth yellow
  • 65122 = The Division Place - this is a conventionally shaped all-purpose & must-have palette knife.
  • dim. blade: approx. 6.35 cm x 1.91 cm; total length (including handle): approx. 23.18 cm; color dip: Naples orange
  • 65118 = The Ladd - this small and manoeuvrable palette knife is amazingly versatile. It is less flexible but gives maximum control. It is ideal for small work and precise details.
  • dim. blade: approx. 3.81 cm x 1.27 cm; total length (including handle): 20.32 cm; color dip: Olive green
  • 65121 = The Taylor is a time-saving workhorse for effortlessly mixing or working with larger amounts of colour. It gives a smoother finish.
  • dim. blade: approx. 8.89 cm x 2.22 cm; total length (including handle): approx. 25.72 cm; color dip: Gamblin blue, Pantone 7698
  • 65123 = The Raymond - the size of this palette knife is ideal — big enough to handle a lot of paint, but still with a certain stiffness. With it you can cut off razor-sharp edges.
  • dim. blade: 6.03 cm x 2.38 cm; total length (including handle): approx. 22.86 cm; color dip: Portland warm grey

All the Gamblin Studio Palette Knives are easy to clean with some white spirit, water and soap or (safflower) oil. As with all palette knives and brushes, it is not recommended to soak the handle. Simply wiping with a damp cloth is sufficient.
