This Gerstaecker Iron Powder is a super fine powder with a particle size of approx. 140 μ. It is ideal for making relief-like structures, for making magnetic paint, and can also be mixed into a workable iron base and filled in relief.
To make magnetic paint using Gerstaecker Iron Powder:
Mix 10 grams of colourless universal primer with 38 grams of Gerstaecker Iron Powder, for coloured paint add 0.5 grams of pigmented colour. The magnetic paint adheres to any surface and is dry after 60 to 80 minutes. The dried paint can also be overpainted with other shades without losing its magnetic properties. A magnet can be used to create interesting structures on a stretcher frame, for example, which can be permanently fixed to the canvas using a fixative.
