The brushes have strong, medium length, Chinese Chungking bristles set in a seamless nickel-plated ferrule, mounted on a matt black lacquered handle with a red tip.

Jax-Hair Hog Bristle Filbert brushes - They are sturdy and not too expensive, fine for encaustic work - I haven't tried them with oil paints.
