Kölner Instacoll Activator is used to reactivate dry Instacoll BASE layers and make them receptive for leaf again. Kölner Instacoll Activator is sold in 100 ml jars.
Simply wait for the Instacoll BASE to dry completely, then apply a very thin coat of Kölner Instacoll Activator and allow 5 - 10 minutes for it to dry. One the activator is dry then the surface will once again be ready for metal leaf to be laid, for up to 30 minutes. This Kölner Instacoll Activator can be used even years later.
The Instacoll System has been specifically developed for applying metal leaf, preferably gold leaf, outdoors. It minimises the risks through a clever 2-stage system: first, the clean surface is painted as evenly as possible with Instacoll BASE clear or yellow, and once dry you apply the activator and begin to apply the metal leaf.
