The Leonardesca Primed Canvas 576 is a premium, medium-grain polycotton artist canvas manufactured by the historic Tuscan company Leonardesca in Italy. Rolls measure 10 metres by 215 cms.
Designed for professional fine art applications, this canvas balances the strength of synthetic fibres with the texture of natural cotton. It consists of 35% cotton, 65% polyester and weighs 398 gsm. The medium grain features a sturdy "twisted yarn" weave.
Leonardesca Primed Canvas 576 is universally primed with a white titanium and acrylic resin base,that provides medium absorbency, and offers an ideal balance, ensuring that paint binds securely without draining the vibrancy out of the pigments.. This canvas has a protected/coated reverse side to stabilise the fabric and prevent paint or moisture from seeping through.
This canvas is highly versatile and fully compatible with oil colours, acrylics, and tempera paints. The blend of 65% polyester significantly increases the tensile strength compared to pure cotton. It resists sagging or loosening over time, even when stretched across large wooden frames.
