The Leonardesca Unprimed Canvas 544 is a premium, heavy-weight unprimed polycotton canvas manufactured by the historic Tuscan company Leonardesca in Italy. It has a fine grain and smooth texture.
This canvas is composed of 35% cotton and 65% polyester twisted yarn. It weighs 272 gsm, and rolls measure 10 metres x 215 cm.
This raw, unprimed canvas is ideal for custom priming or specific textile art. Because it is a polycotton blend using twisted yarn, it offers significantly higher tensile strength and resistance to humidity changes compared to pure cotton. This makes it less prone to sagging over time on extra-large stretcher bars. As an unprimed canvas, you can customise the surface by stretching it raw and applying your own choice of primer.
