These MANUSCRIPT Index Nibs are unique, decorative dip pen nibs shaped like a hand with a pointing index finger. They are sold in packs of 5 nibs.
The nib is firm with very little flex, making it highly recommended for consistent, single-thickness monoline lettering, and precise line art. Due to its broad, hollowed-out finger shape, ink naturally pools on the back of the nib. This acts as a generous reservoir, allowing you to write significantly longer paragraphs before needing to re-dip
.
MANUSCRIPT Index Nibs feature a medium-fine point suitable for everyday handwriting, sketching, italics, and casual calligraphy. They are made from fine steel in the UK and fit into most standard universal dip pen holders.
TIP! New steel nibs come coated in a thin protective manufacturer's oil that will cause ink to slide off or pool unevenly. Before your first use, you must prep the nib by gently rubbing it with toothpaste, wiping it with rubbing alcohol / Windex, or briefly inserting it into a potato to strip away the oil layer. Always clean and dry the nib thoroughly after writing to prevent rust.
