Zhao Zhe Paper is a handmade rice paper of the highest quality. It is perfect for ink, watercolour, pastel and fine prints.

Zhao Zhe Paper sheets measure approx 79cm x 143cm but being handmade the size can vary somewhat. This natural white paper is 55gsm, with a moderately rough surface and four deckled edges. Due to the special sizing used, Zhao Zhe Paper has excellent grip.

I received this as part of the Chinese Paper Samples pack. I used it for intaglio printmaking.
It is a creamy straw colour, not white, and has some random dark inclusions. It's not perfectly uniform, which I liked. Gave an "urban" feel to my work.
The paper is soft and absorbent, with a matt surface.
If you write on it with an ink pen, the ink spreads very slightly.

I thought it worked really well for oil-based ink printing, and I'll be re-ordering.
