Borciani e Bonazzi UNICO INFINITO mini 855 Round Pointed French Watercolour brushes have HIDRO® synthetic hair, which is a vegan-friendly alternative to classic petit gris — natural Kazan squirrel hair.

➽ It is micro-perforated. This allows it to absorb and retain extremely large amounts of water and water-based media such as watercolour paint, gouache and highly diluted acrylic paint — the technical term for this is hydrophilic, hence the name!

➽ The same microstructure also ensures optimal flow control — everything is released not all at once, but in a controlled, constant and even flow.

➽ Unlike squirrel hair, it has enough resilience — what we call snap — to return to its original shape immediately after each stroke, which facilitates precision work.

This is the mini version of the UNICO INFINITO 850 watercolour brush. The bristles are shorter and more compact. The ratio between the diameter of the ferrule and the bristle length has been adjusted for more direct control and even more snap — in that respect, it is somewhat reminiscent of a detail brush.

TIP! Use this mini brush to apply detailed accents — such as dots and hatches — to work you have created with the larger 850 series or for calligraphic techniques in ink. Its more compact size also makes it a perfect travel brush for urban sketching.

This brush is bound in the traditional French manner. In the past, brushes were often bound in a sleeve wrapped with thread or string, which was cut from a hollow (goose) quill. This traditional technique is still popular, especially in France. However, nowadays a plastic sleeve is usually used. This method produces a more elastic result than when the brush hairs are bound in a metal ferrule. And thanks to its convex shape — also known as the belly — this brush can hold even more water, paint and ink.

Smart detail: the handle has an anti-roll system — a horizontal recess that prevents the brush from rolling off your work table.

Borciani e Bonazzi — tradition and innovation since 1951!

The founders of the Italian family business Borciani e Bonazzi — B♦B for short — are brother Arturo and sister Wilma Bonazzi. They started their business in 1951 in a small artisan workshop in the Emilia region of Italy. The name came about when Wilma's husband, the young Borciani, joined the company.

Today, their brushes are still made one by one by hand, combining traditional techniques — learned from local craftsmen — with top-quality materials, such as innovative, high-end synthetic fibres.
