These CHARBONNEL BALL ETCHING GROUNDS are cone-shaped and are available in either hard or soft. They are black and are made from asphaltum, rosin and beeswax (with pitch resin and tallow added to the soft one)
The hard CHARBONNEL BALL ETCHING GROUND is rubbed onto the previously heated metal. Dab it on to evenly cover the surface, then smear the slab. Due to the black, matte appearance, the areas processed with the needle are particularly visible. This hard etching ground is ideal for etchings that require fine detail and deep lines. It dries to a matte, opaque finish.
The soft CHARBONNEL BALL ETCHING GROUND does not dry out. It is particularly suitable for soft lines and structural effects. The etching primer should be applied hot with a sponge or roller. It dries to an opaque satin finish.
Both the hard and soft CHARBONNEL BALL ETCHING GROUNDS weigh approx. 40 g.
Price per cone.
