Clairefontaine PASTELMAT® Pad No. 3 contains 12 sheets of 360 gsm white paper, in a top-bound pad.

With the PASTELMAT® paper, Clairefontaine has basically reinvented & permanently improved the traditional pastel paper! Fine nuances, elaborate details or colour veils - it's all possible with this paper.

Thanks to its special structure - coarser than velvet but softer than sandpaper - pastels adhere so well that you don't actually need to use fixative. You can apply layer upon layer without saturation. Your colours remain bright and clean. And you can blend them in in a controlled and precise way.

TIP! You can even wash them, because this paper can stand a bit of water. And there is also less dust formation, so your studio stays cleaner.

Excellent product - The paper holds pastel really well, even pastel that just wouldn't stick to other brands of paper. The first layer can't be blended but as you add on layers you can blend if you choose to.

You can add multiple layers and can also wash the pastel off under running water if you want to reuse the paper. It doesn't go completely back to white and you need to weight it down as it dries - I wrap it in paper towel and place under a book. I have washed the same piece of paper off twice, using it for oil pastels after the second wash. Great for beginners who are trying to save money.
