The CALIGO Safe-Wash letterpress ink set contains the following colours:
- black
- cyan (primary blue)
- magenta (primary red)
- primary yellow
- opaque white
- extender
Identical to traditional relief inks in handling and printing, but Caligo Safe-Wash relief inks are oil-based, unlike other water-soluble inks.
They can be washed off easily with soap and water, eliminating the use of harmful and expensive solvents.
The rigour of water-soluble relief inks can be modified by adding Caligo Safe-Wash Transparent Extender. This way, the transparency can also be changed.
To dilute the relief ink, a small amount of Caligo Safe-Wash-Oil can be added. To reduce the sticky and viscous nature of the ink, it is advisable to stir in small amounts of Caligo Medium, which increases wipe-ability. The same effect can be achieved with GERSTAECKER transfer medium.
Processing:
Use Caligo Safe-Wash Relief inks in the same way as traditional relief inks. Just be careful not to over-wash your printing paper. To remove the ink, first apply liquid soap to the inked surfaces. Use a brush to work the soap thoroughly into the ink residue. Then wash off with warm water. To remove the paint residues completely, it is best to use a brush, sponge or strong paper.
