da Vinci CHUNEO brushes — Chungking, but different and better!
For centuries, artists have valued brushes made from Chungking, the very finest hog bristle. However, genuine Chungking is becoming scarcer and more expensive with each passing year. What’s more, an increasing number of people are seeking to reduce their use of animal-derived materials.
That is why da Vinci — one of the finest brush makers since the late 19th century — developed a high-quality alternative: CHUNEO. This synthetic hair comes as close as possible to Chungking — and in some respects even surpasses the original!
This synthetic hair is robust, yet flexible. It is almost indestructible and retains its shape, resilience and character, even with intensive use. What’s more, it is easier to clean than genuine hog bristle.
The brush shape of this 7229 series from the CHUNEO range is flat & extra short — perfect for expressive strokes and creating initial sketches and line work.
Product specifications of the da Vinci CHUNEO 7229 brushes at a glance:
- bright brushes: flat & extra short
- synthetic hair
- vegan-friendly alternative to classic Chungking hog bristle
- seamless, nickel-plated ferrule
- long wooden handle naturally varnished, with a black-varnished tip
TIP! The character and qualities of the CHUNEO brushes are particularly well suited to more opaque, impasto-like, sketchy and freer work, possibly on a somewhat rougher surface, in oil, acrylic and casein paints.
