Gerstaecker Excellence Linen Stretched Canvases are made from 100% Belgian linen, 460 gsm . The canvas is medium grain and is perfect for oil and acrylic artwork.

2 coats of skin based glue are applied first, this traditional method using warm rabbit skin glue guarantees perfect ageing of the canvas. 2 coats of universal primer complete the process, making Gerstaecker Excellence Linen a superior quality canvas. The finish makes it easy to paint on and the paint adheres well, no matter what technique you use the colours are excellently rendered. The canvas is tacked on the side of the frame and stapled at the back.

The stretchers on Gerstaecker Excellence Linen Stretched Canvases are natural wood from managed forests in France. The frame is assembled following the traditional methods for large sizes (2 Tenon joints on the sides and notches top and bottom). Hardwood wedges (beech) and support bars (for the larger formats) are included with the canvases. All of these elements combined make for a frame which holds its shape well.
