The texture of these DERWENT GRAPHITE XL Blocks is different from the texture of graphite pencils. It is softer and creamier. The blocks can be used to create expressive lines as well as for filling larger areas, depending on whether you use it flat or at an angle.

You can also use them to create subtle shades, perfect for tonal work. And because this graphite crayon is water-soluble, you can also wash it and work with it wet-on-wet - for even more nuances.
