These GIUSTO MANETTI Flat Gilder's Mop brushes are professional-grade gilding brushes designed specifically to help loose metal leaf adhere to a support surface, especially over detailed carvings, deep crevices, or irregular cavities.

The brushes bridge the gap between traditional animal hair performance and modern synthetic durability: the tips are made from high-grade synthetic vaio (squirrel) hair, meticulously engineered to mimic the exact softness, elasticity, and uniform pressure delivery of natural Kazan squirrel hair. They have a wide, flat profile ("bowler" style) that covers substantial surface areas quickly while maintaining precision.

GIUSTO MANETTI Flat Gilder's Mop brushes are ideal for both water gilding and oil gilding techniques across iconography, restoration, marble work, and exterior signwriting. They are available in various widths to accommodate fine decorative details or large architectural surfaces.

Unlike a classic thin synthetic gilder's tip—which is strictly used to pick up and transfer loose leaf from a cushion to the object—the Flat Vaio Bowler is a heavier tool used to firmly seat and press the leaf down. It safely coaxes the fragile gold or silver leaf into recessed areas without scratching or tearing the metal.
