The colours and colour numbers of HOLBEIN’s HWCP ARTISTS’ WATERCOLOR PENCILS correspond to those of their HWC ARTISTS’ WATERCOLOR paints — making them perfect for combining!

The texture of this watercolour pencil is somewhere between soft and medium-hard. Hard enough to draw comfortably with, yet soft enough to offer excellent water solubility, allowing you to wet, blend and wash the colours beautifully with a brush or a water brush. Of course, you can also use this pencil dry, without washing it out — for example, in combination with HOLBEIN’s ARTISTS’ COLORED PENCIL.

TIP! Want to create special effects? Try working with a dry pencil on paper that you’ve first moistened with a little water. Or dip the tip of your pencil in water first and then work on dry paper.

Product specifications of HOLBEIN’s HWCP ARTISTS’ WATERCOLOR PENCILS at a glance:

  • water-soluble pencil
  • soft – medium hard texture
  • highly pigmented
  • most colours are highly lightfast
  • shape: hexagonal, so it doesn’t roll off your work surface
  • pre-sharpened
  • Ø lead diameter: 3.8 mm
  • Ø total pencil diameter: 7.8 mm

TIP! The colour lead of this watercolour pencil has a diameter of 3.8 mm, allowing you to efficiently cover larger areas. When sharpening, it is best to use a sharpener designed for soft pencils — this ensures the sharpest result without the tip crumbling during sharpening.
