HOLBEIN’s ARTISTS’ COLORED PENCIL has a creamy, extremely soft texture. This allows for smooth colour application, even on coarser paper. As you don’t need to apply much pressure, you can also work well in layers without picking up the underlying layers.

You can apply larger areas of colour quickly and efficiently. And by working with a sharp point and applying almost no pressure, you can create the most subtle lines — perfect for shading! By varying the pressure you apply to your pencil, you can achieve different shades of the same colour — giving you even more possibilities. And because this pencil is so soft, you can also easily create subtle colour transitions and blend your colours together — for example, using a blending stump, a fan brush or a blender. And with turpentine or MELTZ — also from HOLBEIN — you can even wash them out!
