JAX® Chinese Hake Flat Brushes are traditional-style oriental wash brushes prized for their exceptional softness and fluid-handling capabilities.

These brushes are made from very soft goat hair and are designed to carry large volumes of water and pigment smoothly across a surface without picking up or disturbing underlying dry layers of paint. They are ideal for silk painting and wash techniques, especially for flat painting.

These JAX® Chinese Hake Flat Brushes have short, lacquered natural wood handles, into which the goat hair bristles are sewn. They are ideal for large watercolour washes, background wetting, silk painting, fluid ink techniques, and oriental calligraphy washes.

TIP! Traditional hake brushes should never be washed in hot water, as it can cause the natural hairs to shrink or the adhesive binding to degrade. Always clean them with cold or lukewarm water
