The inks produced by Japanese company Kuretake — founded in 1902 by Narakichi Watatani, an e-sumi craftsman — are highly regarded by cartoonists, mangaka, artists, and calligraphers.
Take, for example, this deep black ZIG® Cartoonist™ BLACK INK 60 - a quick-drying, pigment-based sumi ink. As is customary with inks made according to traditional recipes, animal glue is used in this classic ink. As a result, it does not dry waterproof and remains slightly water-soluble. However, you can combine this ink perfectly with alcohol-based markers. And it is eraser-proof — even if you repeatedly erase over the lines, they remain clear and sharp.
TIP! Because the pigment used in this ink is so fine, it has a smooth flow — which also makes it perfect for beginners.
'
You can use this ink with dip pens and brushes, such as the Kuretake MENSO calligraphy brushes or watercolour brushes with Kolinsky sable hair.
