Liquitex® BASICS™ is a fine student quality acrylic paint with a paste-like consistency. Each colour is prepared according to a unique formula that maximises the brightness of each individual colour.

The heavy viscosity (HB) allows oil-like techniques where highlights and brushstrokes remain in the paint layer. The paint can be mixed with water and dries silky smooth. This student quality paint gives a soft, stable film, and stands out from others due to its excellent covering power and light resistance. This is a great value acrylic paint with an extensive colour range.

I use the liquutex Basics as my mixer mediums as I use the Liquitex heavy body paints all the time. The Titanium white covers exceptionally well, and perfect for using during blending. I tend to use the basics really thin so they appear semi-transparent, which is perfect as the heavy body paints are really pigmented. Whist everyone says they are beginners paints they are a great addition to my paint selection, with a high pigmentation and nice viscosity for fine detail work on it's own. I will always have Titanium white, cadmium red medium hue, raw umber, cadmium yellow deep hue, brilliant yellow green, col alt blue hue, Green deep permanent, burnt sienna. So if your on a budget these Liquitex Basic paints are a brilliant place to start and I highly recommend them. Or you can use them like I do as an extender or thinner with the amazing liquutex heavy body paints.

Amazing paint, fantastic for pouring. I’ve used Amsterdam up to now for pouring and this paint seems to have better viscosity the cells does not break if you stretch them as easily
