The MABEF M25 Lyre Convertible Easel is a professional convertible easel with a solid design. The working surface can be tilted from 15 degrees to a horizontal position, which transforms the easel into a painting table.

This MABEF M25 Lyre Convertible Easel is made from the highest quality solid beech wood, from controlled regions where immediate reforestation takes place. The wood is extremely durable and, over time, becomes even more beautiful thanks to a special finishing treatment with natural oils that keep the raw material ‘alive’. It is further enhanced with rounded corners and brass bolts and screws.

The easel is ideal for both oil and watercolour painting. It can hold canvases up to 200 cm and also allows the simultaneous use of 2 canvases. The canvas holder is adjustable by means of two sliding rails. Reinforced joints provide stability in all positions.

Great Easel - I wasn't sure this Easel would be sturdy as it works with one central column rather than two. However I liked that the easel is gripped both top and bottom and the dimensions were good for my workspace, so I bought it. What needs to be understood about this easel is that it's very tall, over 2m, so what might look like a small base if the picture is actually substantial. Not monstrous, just substantial enough to do its job well, I'm experiencing no problems with stability and I can apply lots of pressure against my paper without wobble. Also, because it's tall I can have a board to attach my paper to that is much bigger than that paper, so the horizontal supports can be kept well out of the way and not block my hands when I'm drawing at the extremities of the paper. Also this easel transforms into quite a tall table (about 1m) should you find that useful. Lastly, the price on Great Art was the best I found, and that's before I put it into my basket and realised that it was on special offer for less than £70.
