These Original Belgian Chunks are grinding stones of volcanic origin for fine grinding work. They have been quarried as a natural stone in the Belgian Ardennes since 1625.

Original Belgian Chunks are ideal for sharpening knives, chisels and tools with slightly curved and straight edges.

Key characteristics of Original Belgian Chunks:

  • yellow Belgian chunk bonded to a slate base
  • hard bond
  • outstanding properties in the fine grinding area
  • particularly fine grinding grooves
  • little wear in use
  • low burr formation
  • 35 - 40% garnets (tiny naturally embedded garnets serve as a hard abrasive grain)_
  • extra fine grit
