THE COLOR WHEEL COMPANY™’s COLOR WHEEL™ is a practical colour wheel that allows you to explore individual colours and the relationships between them.

This helps you discover which colours go well together and creates balanced colour combinations, where the colours form a harmonious whole rather than clashing — this is also known as the ‘colour envelope’.

TIP! It’s also a perfect tool for mixing harmonious colours yourself.

Product specifications for the COLOR WHEEL™ from THE COLOR WHEEL COMPANY™:

  • rotating colour wheel — double-sided
  • sturdy design
  • English-language version — small or large size
  • French-language version — small or large size

On this colour wheel, you’ll find the following indicators:

  • tint — the colour + white
  • tone — the colour + grey
  • shade — the colour + black
  • key colour — the dominant colour in a colour combination or colour mix
  • neutral grey — neutral shades of grey, mixed with black and white
  • intensity (chroma) — saturation: the brightness or dullness of a colour
  • value — colour value: how light or dark a colour is

NB We have used the English terms here; on the French-language version, you will of course find the French terms.

The differences between primary, secondary and tertiary colours are also explained, and warm and cool colours are identified.
