ARTIDEE® Oxidation Medium is ideal for refinishing objects pre-treated with iron and metal primer. A different shade of green or blue-green appears on the semi-precious metal surfaces, depending on the oxidation medium used.

The colours range from light green, olive, medium green, dark green and turquoise to an intense blue-green. The effect of the oxidation media is different for all supports. ARTIDEE® Oxidation Medium provides different discolourations on both iron and metal surfaces. We recommend a preliminary test for metal surfaces, as different alloys can also produce different results.

ARTIDEE® Oxidation Medium can be used on different surfaces such as iron primer, metal primer, impact and leaf metal, copper and brass strips, decorative items cast from bronze, brass or copper etc. Clean brushes after use with tap water.

After the oxidation medium has been applied to a metal surface, it immediately begins to oxidise. Already after 10 - 20 minutes the reaction starts, full discolouration is achieved after a period of up to 12 hours. The different oxidation media produce rust colour tones on iron base ranging from yellowish ochre to medium brown, reddish brown and rustic black. A single application is sufficient for this. To obtain shades in the green range, the object must be painted twice with the same oxidation medium on a metal base. The second application is made after an 8 - 12 hour drying time of the 1st oxidation application. With the other oxidation media, a second application will in many cases intensify the oxidation, making the achieved colour shades darker and more intense. Further effects can be achieved if different oxidation media are applied one after the other.

The different media (with colour number) and their colouring on metal ground:

  • 015: verdigris
  • 019: verdigris
  • 023: verdigris
  • 029: verdigris
  • 035: verdigris

The different media (with colour number) and their colouring on iron ground:

  • 015: medium brown
  • 019: rust brown
  • 023: ochre brown
  • 029: rustic brown
  • 035: blue-green

On each bottle filled with ARTIDEE® Oxidation Medium, the possible colouring is precisely noted and colour-coded.
