These CARAN D'ACHE® NEOCOLOR II Aquarelle Crayons have excellent lightfastness, high opacity and radiant colours. All colours are intermixable. CARAN D'ACHE® NEOCOLOR II Aquarelle Crayons are 10 cm long with a diameter of 8.6 mm. They are available individually in both classic and metallic colours.

plein aire sketching aid - I have used a basic set of Neocolor 11 waster sol. pastels to achieve rapid plein aire sketches of mountain scenery in my native Wales..The main advantage of this medium is that I require very little additional equipment other than a water brush and a sketch pad,to achieve sufficient information for future studio work.I have one criticism relating to the colour range available in the small sets as these can be rather garish unless used judiciously and blended in the dry work prior to introducing waster.
However the actual range of colours available is large and by augmenting the range in the small set by introducing more gradations a suitable compromise solution is available still permitting a compact load to accompany my mountain forays.
