CHARVIN FINE OIL colours offer a remarkable compromise between quality and value for money. They are CHARVIN's basic quality, with a standard price for all colours, and offer excellent value for money.
These paints have a creamy texture and high covering power.
Poppy oil is the main binder. It imparts a lustrous sheen, creamy texture, and, most importantly, prevents yellowing of the colours over time. Moreover, it also provides opacity for certain colours, intensity, lightfastness, and unparalleled resistance to aging. These oil colours can be used for traditional painting techniques, including Flemish methods, by utilising appropriate mediums. Additionally, due to its thick texture, it is well-suited for impasto painting techniques, particularly for Plein Air painting.
Another feature are the many ready-mixed colours, which are based on the colours of nature around the Mediterranean. Those colours are best used straight from the tube - possibly with a dot of white - without mixing much on your palette or canvas. This may require a different way of working than you are used to, but give it a try - your work will almost automatically take on a light touch!
TIP! So many colours are a mixture of different pigments. The label will indicate the main pigment used - that way you can classify your colours into colour families.

TIP! This paint lends itself particularly well to impressionist techniques, where you try to capture light and colours in touches that you put directly onto your canvas, without mixing them further - perfect if you like to work en plein air! And for that, use a flat & short brush - what the English call a bright - with hair with a certain springiness.
