Chelsea Classical Studio Walnut Oil is a hand-cleaned and purified walnut oil which improves the richness and brightness of whites and light colours.

Oil paint is made by mixing pigments with a drying oil binder. On contact with the air, this paste of oil and pigments dries and forms an adaptable, firm layer. Along with linseed oil, walnut oil has been the most important drying oil binder since the Renaissance.

Chelsea Classical Studio's process for extracting and clarifying oils is based on the historical model of the Old Masters to produce naturally pure, cold-pressed oils that are lighter, clearer and dry faster. The mucilage and fat is removed, which greatly improves the acidity and drying of the oil. It is then further cleaned by multiple processes that filter out the remaining impurities and unnecessary colouration. This professional-quality walnut oil will not darken and provides brighter and richer tones and hues in oil colours. Walnut oil is naturally less yellow and dries slower than Linseed oil.
