Cyanotype was developed in 1842 and is one of the earliest photographic techniques, using sunlight to create rich Prussian blue monochromatic prints with unique depth.

Sounds interesting? In this 16 piece set by Clairefontaine, you'll find everything you need to experiment with this fascinating technique!

All you need extra is some water. And the sun, of course. TIP! Don't worry if the sun isn't shining: a UV lamp works too.

The contents of this 16 piece set by Clairefontaine:

  • 1 x pot of potassium ferricyanide
  • 1 x pot of ferric ammonium citrate
  • 1 x syringe (20 ml)
  • 1 x spalter brush
  • 1 x pair of gloves
  • 10 x sheet of FONTAINE watercolour paper — 100% cotton, 300 g/m²
  • 1 x instructions manual (French, English, German, Spanish)

You can use the cyanotype technique on uncoated paper and almost any porous, slightly absorbent surface, such as natural fabrics — hemp, cotton, linen, wool and silk — suède and untreated wood.
