GOLDEN® | Sandable Hard Gesso — 437 ml, 437ml
This GOLDEN® Sandable Hard Gesso is a hard primer that consists of 100% acrylic dispersion polymers. It can be sanded to produce smoother and more even surfaces than ordinary gesso.
GOLDEN® Sandable Hard Gesso contains a high percentage of titanium dioxide, calcium carbonate to produce an easily sandable surface. It is ideal for inflexible supports such as hardboard, wood and metal panels. When used on highly absorbent, flexible supports such as linen, cracking may occur. GOLDEN® Sandable Hard Gesso should be applied in several thin coats until the desired thickness is achieved.
The gesso can be tinted up to 10% with Golden acrylic paints. Higher colour contents reduce the sandability and absorbency of the product.
When sanding GOLDEN® Sandable Hard Gesso, please observe the following:
- Allow to dry completely before sanding. Cured acrylic films are easier to sand.
- Start with coarse grit sandpaper and then sand with finer grit until the desired smoothness is achieved.
- Both wet and dry sandpaper can be used.
- Wet sanding produces less dust and the surface is smoother than dry sanding.
- Sanding to a glossy (polished) surface can reduce the mechanical adhesion of paint coats. As always, test before use.
- After sanding, use a damp, soft cloth to remove sanding dust particles from the surface. Otherwise, poor adhesion may result.
