Lascaux Plate-Backing Resist is a tinted, scratch-proof etching medium. It is applied to the edges and rear sides of the printing plate to prevent unwanted etching during the acid bath.

This Lascaux Plate-Backing Resist is water-soluble, ready to use and non-toxic. it is suitable for use on copper, brass, zinc, steel and aluminium. The red coloured resist is highly acid resistant, durable and scratch resistant. It can also be used to create a variety of effects on collagraph plates.
