I bought the Raphaël Softaqua Spalter Brush Series 296, 40mm, brush which came with my order of Sennelier watercolours + free pack of Fabriano paper. I used this brush for the first time for a full watercolour wash of colour on an A4 piece of 640 gsm rough Khadi watercolour paper. How beautifully and easily it laid the colour on the paper from top to bottom evenly in one go. When the wash was dry I washed it over with the same brush using clean water and let it dry. the result was very satisfactory. I have flat and round squirrel brushes and this brush combines the quality of the squirrel with modern synthetic squirrel hair but with much better control and good carrying capacity. The colour was strong and vibrant. I thoroughly recommend this brush to all painters in watercolour. The price is fabulously inexpensive and I am thoroughly delighted.
