Spectrafix FinalFix fixative is made from casein and beeswax. It is similar to Spectrafix's Degas fixative, but it gives your work extra protection against smudging and scratching. It also makes your colours slightly deeper.
Casein — also known as cheese substance — is the main protein found in milk. It is one of the oldest and most stable binding agents. No other binding agent allows your colours to come into their own so well, with all their characteristic properties. The addition of beeswax — and a few other natural ingredients — provides a semi-matt, moisture-resistant finish. After drying and curing, you can even clean your work lightly with a little water. And best of all... there are no toxic fumes or odours — so you can use it indoors!
TIP! Both of Spectrafix's fixatives can be combined with each other to excellent effect.

You can use it as an intermediate fixative, on which you can continue working after drying — and it dries quickly. This allows you to build up deep colours in multiple layers. Compared to the Degas fixative, the beeswax provides a slightly smoother result. If you want extra grip for the next layers, it is better to use the Degas fixative.
TIP! You can also use this FinalFix fixative as a final fixative, a last protective layer.
This fixative is ideal for loose pigments, soft pastels, chalk, graphite, (coloured) pencils, charcoal, watercolour paint, gouache, casein and ink. NB The non-drying mineral oils in oil pastels do not combine well with beeswax. We therefore recommend the Degas fixative for oil pastels. You can also use it with oil paint and acrylic paint, but it is not suitable as a final top coat on oil paint or acrylic paint.
Furthermore, this fixative adheres excellently to all kinds of surfaces: paper, YUPO®, prepared or unprepared canvas, ceramics, glass, leather, wood and stone.
