The vegan-friendly synthetic hair of the Borciani e Bonazzi ITALIA 1951 404 Spalter Watercolour brushes absorbs an average amount of paint. The hair retains its shape and combines flexibility and softness with sufficient resilience.
This spalter was initially developed for watercolour paint and gouache. But you can actually use it for any type of paint that is somewhat fluid. For example, for quick, smooth strokes in diluted acrylic or oil paint, such as applying an imprimatura or creating an initial exploratory undercoat.
TIP! You can also use this spalter to apply thin layers of varnish.

➽ The founders of the Italian family business Borciani e Bonazzi — B♦B for short — are brother Arturo and sister Wilma Bonazzi. They started their business in 1951 in a small artisan workshop in the Emilia region of Italy. The name came about when Wilma's husband, the young Borciani, joined the company.
Today, their brushes are still made one by one by hand, combining traditional techniques — learned from local craftsmen — with top-quality materials, such as innovative, high-end synthetic fibres.
