GIUSTO MANETTI Red Metal Size (also known as mixtion) is a water-based gilding adhesive designed specifically for applying imitation metal leaf (such as imitation gold, copper, and bronze).

The liquid is red, and is highly recommended under imitation gold and copper leaf because it imparts a warmer, richer tone to the final gilded surface. This GIUSTO MANETTI Red Metal Size is perfect for indoor gilding on porous surfaces like wood, gesso, or stucco.

The product can be used directly without dilution when the ambient temperature is between 15° C and 25° C (59° F and 77° F). Apply the adhesive in thin, even coats whenever possible. After approximately 15–30 minutes, the gold leaf can be applied. The adhesive properties of the product remain active for an extended period, allowing gilding to be carried out up to several days later. This product is intended for indoor use only and must not be exposed to any weather conditions or outdoor environments.

Dilution percentage, application method and quantities applied may significantly affect the workability time. The most suitable application methods should be determined by experimentation on the basis of the surface being gilded and the desired result.

TIP! Store in a cool, dry place in its original container, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Ideal storage conditions are 15-25°C and lower than 50% humidity.
