Kuretake ZEKKA Ink Sticks are a renowned traditional product, ideal for works using concentrated ink, such as the Noboku technique. The ink is deep black with a slight bluish tone.

The "Noboku" technique is a specific form of Japanese calligraphy (Shodo), characterised by the use of varying ink density in a single stroke to create a shaded, "hollowed-out" effect. This technique, often used in Sumi-e (ink painting) but also applicable to calligraphy, involves loading the brush with lighter ink in the middle and darker ink at the tip, resulting in a delicate, gradient appearance, particularly for creating soft mountain peaks or other organic forms.

These Kuretake ZEKKA Ink Sticks feature a deep black with a slight bluish tone, which gains intensity and weight when used in high concentration. The sticks are available in various sizes, the weights varying depending on the level of dryness. When diluted with a small amount of water, the ink reveals an even deeper and more sophisticated colour.
