Lascaux | Hard Resist — non-toxic

Lascaux Hard Resist is a high-performance, water-based, non-toxic acrylic copolymer ground designed specifically for the acrylic-resist etching system (ARE). It serves as a modern, safe alternative to traditional toxic, solvent-based hard grounds.

When dried, it provides a highly acid-resistant barrier with a waxy texture that allows etching needles to glide smoothly across metal plates for detailed line drawings. When dry it is highly acid-resistant.

This Lascaux Hard Resist should be applied by brush, and can be used in its clear form or coloured after application. It can be drawn into with an etching needle, roulette, scraper, steel wool etc. Lascaux Etching Hard Resist is water soluble, ready to use and non-toxic, and can be used on copper, zinc, and steel

Lascaux Hard Resist can also be used to create a variety of effects on collagraph plates.
